Kameeldoring has the lowest moisture content of any of our firewood and possibly any firewood in the world. It is baked by the African sun to between a 1-2% moisture content compared to air-dried wood and even kiln-dried wood. These logs, similar to our Sekelbos Firewood, have an ultra-low moisture content due to the lack of water in their habitat and then the job is finished off by the unforgiving African sun. All of our firewood is
This dense firewood takes so long to burn and produces an intense heat output owing to it being extremely dry, rock hard, and heavy. You can expect long burn times, virtually zero smoke production, no wasted energy burning off the extra moisture, and the very best return in calorific value. Kameeldoring burns with a minimal flame that produces an aromatic fragrance and large amounts of charcoal making it ideal for use on a BBQ or Braai.
Our Kameeldoring firewood is responsibly cropped with governmental cooperation with local landowners and farmers. Our firewood is taken from the branches that fall from the trees due to their exceptional heavyweight.
Kameeldoring, otherwise known as camel thorn, is a large thorn-tree endemic to the semi-desert regions of Southern Africa that produces wood where the bark is grey to blackish brown, deeply furrowed, and young branches are a shiny reddish brown.
